Gypsea Centre owners, Rob and Samantha Bester have operated Dive Charters on Aliwal Shoal and Sodwana Bay since 1990. Gypsea Centre is the oldest ‘owner operated’ personalized Scuba Dive Charter in Sodwana Bay.
Gypsea Centre specializes in Open Ocean Excursions, Interactive Marine Experiences and Scuba Diving with strong emphasis on photography and videography.

These experiences are available:
1) Year-round on prestine coral reefs or with resident species player’s i.e. Bottlenose Dolphins,     Spinner Dolphins, Risso Dolphins, White Tip and Black Tip reef sharks.
2) Seasonally with the exciting array of big Migratory Marine Species players i.e. Whale Sharks,     Ragged Tooth Sharks, Humpback Whales, Loggerhead and Leatherback Turtles and Short-fin     Pilot Whales.

Experiences are offered on 3 different levels of interaction, depending on the client’s competency:
1) Boat-based viewing (Whale Sharks, Dolphins and Whales)
2) Snorkeling (Dolphins, Whale Sharks and Raggies)
3) Scuba (Beautiful Coral Reefs, Whale Sharks, Raggies, White Tips, Black Tips and Guitar     Sharks)

Experiences are informative, educational and offer participants a personal interactive experience with the opportunity of first hand involvement in data collection of marine species.

Gypsea Centre founded and conducts the Whale Shark and Ragged tooth Shark research and data collection programmes since 1998.
