Quarter Mile Reef is renown for awesome Ragged Tooth Shark (Carcharias Taurus) encounters. These docile, gestating sharks offer fantastic viewing and photographic opportunities. Ragged Tooth Sharks enjoy the warm, tropical waters Sodwana Bay offers during the summer and are visitors to the area between November and April annually.

Resident shark species found off Sodwana Bay that offer great interactions year-round include:
